I think I'm going to go with a RAID 5 setup. What is the "latest and greatest" AMI RAID card (PCI) which is fully supported by FreeBSD? Let me ask for your advice (and anyone else who may have comments). If under RAID 5, write operations are slower, and in a web server environment, with logging you have as many write operations as read operations, I'm wondering if it might be prudent to configure the server to write log files to a non-RAID drive and run all the other systems from a RAID 5 array? Like 3 drives in a RAID 5 configuration, with a fourth drive non-RAID, holding non-critical logging data. How practical is this? Can a single RAID controller handle this type of set up? Can the RAID array be bootable? Thanks! To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
