Hi, I just aquired an ATAPI-CD-RW and i am wondering how I can use it with FreeBSD. I don't have any SCSI-hardware. Is there some way of using the CAM-SCSI-subsystem as an SCSI-layer over Soren's ATA-driver. The drive gets detected perfeclty with the ATA-drivers just as it's capabilities: acd0: <R/RW 4x4x24/1.04> CDROM drive at ata0 as slave acd0: read 4134KB/s (4134KB/s) write 689KB/s (689KB/s), 2048KB buffer, PIO acd0: supported read types: CD-R, CD-RW, CD-DA, packet acd0: supported write types: CD-R, CD-RW, test write acd0: Audio: play, 2 volume levels acd0: Mechanism: ejectable tray acd0: Medium: no/blank disc inside, unlocked I looked at the cdrecord README's and they state that (at least) Linux has support for using "SCSI over ATAPI" and therefor being able to use cdrecord on ATAPI-drives as well. Isn't FreeBSD's CAM-system capable of doing the same thing ? If so ... what should I do to access my drive with cdrecord. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
