Crap.. Sorry all. Geuss I get to many mailing lists. My bad. 
was reading a linux post right before I read this about the aliasing.
Posted to the wrong list. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes I know  netmasks are't defined as  ?.?.?.?   hehehehe.
