Subject: slice starts beyond end of the disk

I've a pc-chips M598 motherboard (SIS 5595 ATA 66 IDE
controller, which is recognized by -stable as SIS 5591
ATA 33). Using stable, disklabel can't create slices
claiming that every slice starts beyond end of the
disk. I've tried using both LBA and non-LBA modes with
the hard disk with no success, using Fujitsu 6187MB
MPB3064ATU or Seagate 4103MB ST34321A disks.

Any ideas on how this problem can be fixed?
