I get 'Lost connection to localhost' or (more commonly) 'Could not connect
to localhost'. I am using mysql 4.1, but have had the problem on 4.0. I
cant remember if we had the problem on versions before 4.0

Interesting _ I dont think that is the same bug, but it is worth knowing about.
My problems definitely started with the port randomisation code, and went
aeay when it was disabled. have you trie dthat on yours ?
