Hey

I've got an Quantum Atlas disk too:

da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
da0: <QUANTUM ATLAS10K2-TY184L DA40> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device
da0: 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 127, 16bit), Tagged
Queueing Enabled
da0: 17510MB (35860910 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 2232C)

and with controller:

ahc0: <Adaptec 2940 Ultra2 SCSI adapter> port 0xac00-0xacff mem
0xf3000000-0xf3000fff irq 23 at device 9.0 on pci2
ahc0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0

And it works very well (atm Im running 6.0-RC1).
I know that doesnt solve your problem just wanted to say that your
problem might has more sth todo with your controller instead of your disk.
Maybe this will kill some possibilities.
