I read it all and didn't find anything I wanted to complain about. (I noticed some minor problems with commas and senses, mostly outside the changed lines, but that's a different PR). I agreed with all of Ceri's comments except the signal error thing which I have no knowledge about. You did a good job removing the "try to" concept (or not) from appropriate places.
