Subject: Prevent a port from overwriting files from other port

Hey

The port I am currently working on attempts to install it's own
locale.alias into /usr/local/share/locale. I checked with pkgdb and
locale.alias is owned by the gettext port, therefore my port is
overwriting a file from another port.

Am I right when thinking that this should not happen under any
circumstances ? What is the suggested way of fixing this: patching the
upstream distribution or some port Makefile magic ?

Sincerely,
