First off, you'll need to update your ports tree. gnomecore-1.0.55
is very ancient history.

Secondly, I'd be amazed if it compiled and ran on FreeBSD/Alpha,
but it's entirely possible.

I'm planning on getting ahold of an Alpha box in the not too
distant future (the chunk of cash I'd allocated to getting it
had to be diverted elsewhere after a hit-and-run on one of my
vehicles).. if I can get access to a box (preferably with root
access in a jailed/chroot'd environment so I don't trash anything
else :), I'll spend some time looking at it.
