During my first start of the GNOME Desktop environment the whole system froze and then when I restarted it (eventually using the hard reset on the box after ctrl-alt-backspace and ctr-alt-delete didn't work and when an attempt to telnet in externally revealed everything was frozen) fsck found significant damage to the system. Now, I have been locked out of logging in by an error message stating that ld-elf.so.1 and libcrypt.so.2 are corrupt. I can log in in single user mode thanks to the good old troubleshooting sections of the handbook, but my network doesn't seem to be up & running so I can't replace the files. I would appreciate it if someone with /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1 and /usr/lib/libcrypt.so.2 from version 4.0 could e-mail them to me. Or if someone has another solution please let me know... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chairperson of the UVic Students' Society Local 44 of the Canadian Federation of Students (250) 721-8370 Work & Fax (250) 472-4379 JOIN The campaign for higher education... www.cfs.bc.ca ------=_NextPart_000_003F_01BFA879.928D34A0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
