Wow. In the interest of pursuing this to the death, could this error be attributed to the partitioning of the drive? Here's what I mean: The BIOS defines the drive as: Cylinders:779 Heads: 128 Sectors: 63 Total Sectors: 6281856 Mode: LBA FreeBSD defines the drive as (when set to dangerously dedicated?): Cylinders: 391 Heads: 255 Sectors: 63 Total Sectors: 6281415 Could my problem be related to the disk geometry incorrectly set? > -----Original Message----- > From: Watson, chris [mailto:cwatson@WorldMediaCo.net] > Sent: March 25, 1999 11:55 AM > To: 'Jeff Lush' > Subject: RE: Hard disk problem > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG > [mailto:owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Jeff Lush > Sent: Thursday, March 25, 1999 11:42 AM > To: freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG > Subject: Hard disk problem > > > > wd0s1e:wdstart:time out waiting to give command writing fsbn7776 of > 7776-7787 (wd0s1e bn608640; cn75tn60sn60)(status 1<err>error2<tr000>) > > My questions are, what is this error? does this error relate to the "tink" > noise I hear?
