I plan to upgrade before October, but I'm seeing this now: root@data3:~ # uname -a FreeBSD data3.webtent.net 10.4-RELEASE-p9 FreeBSD 10.4-RELEASE-p9 #0: Tue May 8 07:05:01 UTC 2018 root@amd64-builder.daemonology.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 root@data3:~ # pkg update /lib/libc.so.7: version FBSD_1.4 required by /usr/local/lib/libpkg.so.4 not found Can someone suggest what I could do to correct this and update packages? I get the same whether trying to install a package or upgrade. Also, I keep receiving the same src updates but I don't have the src installed, how can I have freebsd-update not install src items as shown below? Only software compiled in this mode is protected". In the context of FreeBSD, does this also apply to userland and Ports? The above point seems to imply Ports or other software not built with this toolchain will remain vulnerable. Or perhaps, by virtue of of the OS being built using an updated compiler, will userland and Ports inherently be protected? Starting points might be https://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html https://www.freebsd.org/internal/software-license.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_free_and_open-source_software_licenses https://opensource.org/licenses/alphabetical https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#ModifiedBSD https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#FreeBSD I don't know if you need to add the license as a comment on top of the header files, as well as providing a license file or if just one or the other is needed, but it shouldn't be hard to find out, when reading about the licenses. To add a FLOSS license to your code, you don't need to install a FLOSS operating system, but don't offend a license, assuming you code should include code of others. Or a way to make ffmpeg start faster? Ny problem is that the video are always very short, a couple of seconds each, just enough for someone to pass throufg a door. One ideal solution would be something that runs all the time in th background and that would receive signals telling the application it should start to recording instead of dropping the packets. This is on FreeBSD 11.1. I've got a vps provider with support for the dns01 challenge via API key. I enter the API key in the script and am told that the keys are created but the domain doesn't exist, which it does it's in my vps cp. That's why you can't change this file. This is the setup that ezjail also uses and mandoc in ezjail gets updated when you do 'ezjail-admin update -i'. I think installworld calls makewhatis automatically. This is on FreeBSD 11.1 and I'm using apache 2.4, and postfix, and dovecot, I think those are the only tls-enabled services i've got. I like the fact that acme.sh can do a wildcard certificate as I only need one for the tld and not x for all subdomains. I do like that fact that it also can handle ECC curves. The thing that is holding me back is deployment, how do you deploy your tls certificates? Yesterday I did it manually but I only did it for one domain, copied the files where I wanted them and manually entered the tls information in apache's setup. I've got the cron script going so ideally i'd like to get a certificate renewed if needed cron takes care of that, then the certificate and key are deployed to where they need to go and the service or services are restarted. My second question and this one is a curiousity, the certificates that are made end with a .cer extension, can I change this in the script? Thanks. Dave. You'll still need to set up Apache (or other software) correctly, but "acme.sh --install-cert" will copy them for you. > I've got the cron script going so ideally i'd like to get a > certificate renewed if needed cron takes care of that, then the > certificate and key are deployed to where they need to go and the > service or services are restarted. That's exactly what "acme.sh --cron" does. > My second question and this one is a curiousity, the certificates that > are made end with a .cer extension, can I change this in the script? Yes and no. AFAIK, in acme.sh database they'll be .cer, but, since you shouldn't mess directly with it, this should not matter. When you use "acme.sh --install-cert" you can rename them as you like. bye av. A first email on this described all the gory details. This IMO just obscured the larger message. If you want this to work there are two choices if you encounter a problem: (1) find hardware that works; (2) know the internals of the firmware on the failing system and enough about the UEFI boot process so you can find/write a first level module that the firmware in question will recognize. I have used only FreeBSD for my work station since 4.5. So I have installed it a time or two and worked around various software issues. Having to figure out what the PC firmware is looking for takes the problem to another level. TrueOS (iXsystems) seems to think using rEFInd is an answer. Starting with a free range version of that is a bit like rewriting termcap. The guide I found was for ZFS on a version of Windows those partition layout had little in common with what I had. Between the Lenovo BIOS and Windows boot options that could recovery from anything, I eventually got FreeBSD installed. None of the Windows versions (that I encountered in this go-around) had these options. I did all this using the same install medium. The amd64-dvd1 iso and the USB img file (both 11.2). The hardware was Dell, HP, and POWERSPEC (Micro Center's brand). Only the Dell worked. I did a legacy and a UEFI install each taking less than 5 minutes. The POWERSPEC would only boot Windows and entering the BIOS did not work. On the HP I did a GPT install that worked followed by a UEFI ZFS install that rendered the system unusable. Only the Dell recognized the bootable USB which I used for both installs. The rEFInd docs speak to setting various variables that will aid in booting. If rEFInd makes UEFI booting easier/possible it would be really nice if at a minium some of this information made its way into the handbook. _____ Douglas Denault http://www.safeport.com doug@safeport.com Voice: 301-217-9220 Fax: 301-217-9277 From owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Fri Jul 27 23:32:06 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-questions@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9B89B105A552 for ; Fri, 27 Jul 2018 23:32:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dave.mehler@gmail.com) Received: from mail-wr1-x433.google.com (mail-wr1-x433.google.com [IPv6:2a00:1450:4864:20::433]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "Google Internet Authority G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 17CD58F02E for ; Fri, 27 Jul 2018 23:32:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dave.mehler@gmail.com) Received: by mail-wr1-x433.google.com with SMTP id q10-v6so6560735wrd.4 for ; Fri, 27 Jul 2018 16:32:06 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc; bh=91Y12bR4UImj1prBgLX4b/EmK50j4L5C5eQdneMTrAU=; b=ZowvikKBN9OcFOeGwjSopVJ91LRbYaLhG7++6UwQsQxV40bXjp6qSQcbcrgLPHZrB/ XNXTZENhP4QwaXhEjFf9YpZMnC7EVh+rJhzINVEj8820yzBxOVZOn6ucx2rRijOaQOUr /3oRbio57P3bTC5TC+CKbxkKUXRoGm4yeKrMhxj6oAbadfliDV4vPgH3wGhxiRjO1mRg cr/zTtXhDCP1xGZLsb9xgvDv+0v8Zwz6XMB4kBgnVUd9wZUJn+VFAn3nGB7Njfk3MaCM R27/m7xmZaa4E0vtkKBqKSy96HeS5A0H1dbmd7sjLUb/g/bEbQti43+CJ5+3sTvbQp6A UAsw== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc; bh=91Y12bR4UImj1prBgLX4b/EmK50j4L5C5eQdneMTrAU=; b=NAK42H2Qp1bma7wg2Gx1BElpp8+t3YA2vGK+EExj2fyqpOFcQVNN/oobLkMeb8npWS MQRkM60XsWKpcWv8pwER0e/7UsHlr/E2gZHI3Ddf/5ee6IZpG7NF5KGCm/m3HE1+/Vcs rjVVp/EVpRMd3zVqb87xDxPXcd5xTlatr5QZXCQ7d4T5hEoRPh2wUakh7F3h6cWRRSwq PPPLZHA3JJ/LsGw3dAZrccHt1nBSLVTWl0RiFBgnIur0oegSl2nWuQUhEAyvoR0oame4 oqHlmz0+nmGkVdIVe6Sxz4OlGdtKuDRU+8ZGso+00oYhOBE9UUHLh3mces90ZuWq6MZ6 5f4A== X-Gm-Message-State: AOUpUlHt24HKxx556QaCMp4kSJFk/A1oLrZ92CafCceWRH9FFT737doM dbfelwv6rJmXjXiacpZSu5VZeEY61xFdM22MixjgzsJV X-Google-Smtp-Source: AAOMgpc8YJ0O0Ym/cLAByZeC/S1RT/VnZyd+oO7Iz4U/KvOKtCivbQxNb4JPy1OLwlAEyVWkNo95ZNgZHCW0vrR+SGc= X-Received: by 2002:adf:f50e:: with SMTP id q14-v6mr6404558wro.241.1532734325153; Fri, 27 Jul 2018 16:32:05 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 2002:adf:e20c:0:0:0:0:0 with HTTP; Fri, 27 Jul 2018 16:32:04 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <120e2cd3-b6a4-ac3d-714e-8597b88f95ed@netfence.it> References: <120e2cd3-b6a4-ac3d-714e-8597b88f95ed@netfence.it> From: David Mehler Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2018 19:32:04 -0400 Message-ID: Subject: Re: acme.sh and certificate deployment To: Andrea Venturoli Cc: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" X-BeenThere: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: User questions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2018 23:32:06 -0000 Hello, When I would do acme.sh --install-cert where do the certificates end up? Wherever you tell it to put them. This would be a good time to try acme.sh --help Also be sure to look at the --reloadcmd option, which lets you do whatever you need to do once it's put the new certs where you told them to put them. I use acme.sh with my local apache, works great. I can give you the scripts but you wouldn't want them because the verification uses a custom API on my DNS server. I do like that fact > that it also can handle ECC curves. If I remember well what I read about wildcard certificates, and unless it has changed, only DNS authentication is supported. So unless you wrote your full script deployment, you have to do it by hand because the challenge to put in DNS is changing each time you want to renew. But it is very straight forward to use LE certificates for Apache, Postfix and I have not tried Dovecot :0 Best luck, Olivier
