Oops saw that I do get an error message:
All mbuf clusters exhausted, please see tuning(7)
...
this goes on and on forever, and the machine does not respond to anything.
Is the solution to increase kern.ipc.nmbclusters ?
I still do not think that the machine should freeze as it does, should it?
