rm deletes files very slowly on my system, much slower than the files can
be created. It takes more than an hour to delete one GB of files.

Why is that, and is there anything I can do to speed it up ? I use a P200
system with a A2940UW controller. The freebsd version is 2.2.2 - are there
any kernel configurations that I should set, to speed file deletion up.

Or do any utilities exist, that can delete files faster ?

Soren
