There was an issue, committer MFC'd it but some servers apparently were quite a bit behind replicating it to the cvs tree. You must have grabbed source from the right server at just the right time. You can check the archives to see what was up, I can't remember off-hand. I don't think your install of SAMBA has anything to do with this.
