I did an apmconf -e to enable it, and it did the rest. When I moved the mouse, the screen woke up, the disk started rattling, and the compile picked up and continued. It did this three times, before I used apmconf -d to disable it (at least until the build finished). +C -- Thinking of purchasing RAM from the Chip Merchant?
