Apparently, you _can_ upgrade directly to 3.1-STABLE using the ``upgrade'' target. I've never used it myself, hence the inaccuracy in my previous message. Are you sure you have enough disk space for the upgrade? Do a df -k after the failure occurs and see how much space you have? Ciao, Sheldon.
