Yeah, if you grep -i copyright in the fortune database, it's interesting to note that those are almost the only references to the word "copyright". Generally short excerpts fall under fair use, and don't require specific copyright reference, just attribution. And in the event these don't fall under fair use, they should be removed. Since I'm not familiar with the body of work they come from, I can't comment on whether they represent such a significant fraction of the work that they might not. The only other bits of the fortunate database I've really had doubts about from that perspective are the Dave Barry quotes, but those clearly represent a very small (and properly attributed) fraction of the total bodies in question.
