Where do we stand on making 'mount /' from single user work again?

    OK boot -s
    ..
    # uname -a
    # FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #33: Wed Dec 7 16:34:50 PST 2005
    # mount /
    # vi /etc/rc.conf
    ex/vi: Error: /var/tmp/vi.recover: Read-only file system
