Who can say what traditional unix is when the hardware has >a new feature? Sun hardware has supported soft power-off for quite a while now. Solaris 2.x uses initlevel 5 to indicate power-off, with level 6 remaining `halt' (actually `go to rom monitor'). IMHO, there is a use for distinguishing `halt' and `power off'.
