Check the following:
/usr/compat/linux/etc/yp.conf shows your domainname and yp server(s)

/usr/compat/linux/etc/nsswitch.conf has the requisite nis specification for 
passwd, shadow, group etc. Acroread7 works for me *as long* as I have set yp 
up for Linux as stated in the pkg_message for the Linux_base port.
