Media-change notifications for SCSI devices has been on our wish-list for almost as long as we have had a SCSI subsystem. I for one, has never understood the why "SCSI-mafia" objected to it, and I don't feel I have ever gotten a comprehensive rationale for the objections. Maybe this would be a good time for you to lay out the rationale for the objections and let the project decide the issue on the merits ?
