What you need to do to disable it is to right click on My Computer,
go to properties, choose the performance tab, click on the Virtual
Memory Button on the bottom and disable it on the following screen.

As far as performance goes, you can kiss what little bit you may have
had goodbye. I had a Windows 95 machine with 128MB memory and a
100MB Swap file. I then bought another 128MB ram and figured I could
remove the swap file. Makes sense... I now had 256MB of REAL
memory, more than I had before with virtual memory. when I disabled
virtual memory the machine came to it's knees. For some stupid
reason Windows HAS TO HAVE A SWAP FILE!?!?!?!

I don't know if this will work, but... you may want to specify a
swap file of 0 bytes (that's zero!) and see if you can fake out
windows. You may want to give it a shot.

Good luck!!

I can't seem to run fips. I tried, and It said to look for hidden
files in
the first cylinder. One mentioned in the documentation was the
windows
swapfile. There is no 386 enhanced part of the control panel in
Windows 95!
So HOW do I uininstall it? Can I just delete it? How will that
affect
Windows?
