There was someone who reported something similar a few weeks ago,
I think it was, and he later reported that the problem went away
when he switched shells.  This seemed rather odd to me, because I
would not expect the shell to matter, but I couldn't reproduce the
problem at the time.  (not that I tried very hard after he reported
that it was working for him).

I let the messages about that sit in my mailbox until sometime
last week, when I decided I could delete them because no one else
had reported the problem...
