ok got me Freebsd 3.1. managed to install it a couple of times.
but sometimes when i go to reinstall it it can never find my cdrom when i am
asked to choose my media from which i will install from!

is there no way it can just install what i want through ATAPI(spelling?)
standards?. it just kinda annoys me when some times i select it to use the
sony drivers and it works fine, other times i select mitsumi(how ever that
is spelt), and it some times works, and other times it just does not work no
matter what i try.

also when i do get it to install it has trouble mounting the cdrom too,
sometimes it works, other times it say the device is not setup right.

i know it is not a problem hardware wise because it works fine under windoz
and linux, just FreeBSD it doesnt!

ok, and one last thing while i am on the roll, @:)
i go to use ppp to connect to the internet and it compains about it not
being setup or something.
i go through kppp in the KDE window manager, and it connects, but it acts
like the DNS servers have not been set and can not find a route to any of
the hosts i try to connect to on the internet, also once it is connected, it
doesnt load things like netscape and such. any ideas on that??

thanx for any help apart from "try reading this and that", i have read all i
can get my hands on.

Rob.
