On the topic of newer cards:
I have a FireGL V3600 - it works just fine with radeonhd at 1920x1200
(single-link) on amd64, radeonhd doesn't have support for dual-link so
I can't use it at 2580x1600. The atombios-support branch of the ati
driver has dual link support and works for some people, but crashes
for me in the atombios parser.
