I've had a few problems running modems at 115200..

I usually run them at 38400 (or if I'm feeling lucky) 57600, as I've had
bad experiances setting the DTE speed to 115200 (modems don't do 115200,
and when I set our racks to that they kinda hang like you're suggesting..)
