I had a more intuitive error catching scheme with archive(5) built into a workspace in perforce, but it was never accepted; on the bright side it's a minor portion that's being integrated into pkg-ng and is going to be more tested than my version. So, I would probably blame pkg_install's lack of error catching and counter intuitive behavior here, not the installer. Thanks, -Garrett
