Today I installed 2.1.5 at work. I created a few users and set up the networking configuration (DNS server etc...) I created a new kernel and it went OK. When I rebooted the users were gone and the computer lost its configuration (ie the computer name is not the prompt anymore but the default) I don't mind much that I lost the settings, but I would like to know what files I need to copy before I do a new kernel. It would also be nice if the documentation mentioned this behavior The user directories and still there, but when I couldn't log in with a user different from root I did vipw and all the users I had added where gone.
