I accept GIGO as a fact of life.  I would vote against needing the
switch.  That's all I have to say on the topic.

Any thoughts on examining the corefile for truncated segments,
etc. are beyond what I feel like contemplating today.

I will also add that I think this is a neat hack, and I am anxious to
see it.
