Tiana" Message-Id: <199602012344.PAA14103@descartes.arc.nasa.gov> To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Subject: Mach64 card setup woes Sender: owner-hardware@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk I am probably doing something obviously wrong, but I am having some trouble setting up X to run on a Mach64 card. I have tried both 800x600 settings and 1024x768, at 24 and 8 bpp respectively to no avail: in the first case I get a screen with some magenta-colored line pattern, in the latter case I get a screen with what looks like some mangled characters greatly magnified. The card is on a PCI bus on a 133MHz Pentium machine. It has 2MB of VRAM. I am running FreeBSD 2.1 (per the CD) although upon startup X displays a message implying I am running FreeBSD 2.0.5. I enclose the full startup messages at the end of this message. Any help in setting up this card would be greatly appreciated; I would like to be able to run with a pseudocolor display at either 1280x1024 or 1024x768, as well as in truecolor mode at whatever resolution I can get (the docs seem to imply 800x600 given only 2MB VRAM). Thanks very much, Carlo.
