I have a new machine here, so I'm trying to get used to a new config. I definitely need some help. I have an ncr controller, with 3 scsi disks: scsi id 1 == 2.1 G, dedicated to FreeBSD (/, swap, /usr) scsi id 2 == 2.1 G, dedicated to FreeBSD (swap, /usr2) scsi id 4 == 200 M, dedicated to dos. I used to use an Adaptec controller, so I had a aha line. I can't find any controller "ncr" in LINT, do I need a controller line for this? There's lines in LINT like: # controller scbus0 at ahc0 # Single bus device # controller scbus1 at ahc1 bus 0 # Single bus device # controller scbus3 at ahc2 bus 0 # Twin bus device # controller scbus2 at ahc2 bus 1 # Twin bus device # disk sd0 at scbus0 target 0 unit 0 # disk sd1 at scbus3 target 1 What do I replace "ahc0" with for an NCR controller? I just have one NCR controller, with the 3 disks. I currently get a panic on boot, with "unable to mount root", unless I used kernel.GENERIC. Do I need device lines for the disks? It's well documented for Adaptec controllers, but seemingly not for NCR controllers. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 9120 Edmonston Ct #302 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and n3lxx, both FreeBSD (301) 220-2114 | version 2.2 current -- and great FUN! ----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
