He also noted to me that the second patch isn't needed. The "else" case doesn't have any other thread manipulating the list, so the thread mutex isn't needed. Since you are using NFSv4.1, I'm pretty sure that the third patch is the one that fixes the problem. I will commit this to head soon and MFC it before closing this PR. (Oh, and the NFSv4.1 server stuff isn't in stable/9, so the fix only applies to 10 and head.)
