The following reply was made to PR bin/74140; it has been noted by GNATS. From: asym@rfnj.org To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, antiduh@csh.rit.edu Cc: Subject: Re: bin/74140: [ntpdate] ntpdate does not try all IPs for a host Date: Wed, 19 Oct 2005 08:07:08 -0400 (EDT) An update/addendum to this PR, that perhaps goes without saying, is that this problem exists also if the ntp server does respond on all addresses, but the client that ntpdate is running on doesn't have the proper connectivity. In my particular case (5.4-STABLE) ntpdate tries to connect to the valid IPv6 address and fails becaus the client itself doesn't have proper ipv6 connectivity. -- Wrap my soul in bandages / I'm tired of this war / go ahead and cut me / I can't feel it any more
