You have a few choices.  For new ports, I use the
/usr/ports/Tools/scripts/plist script, then doctor the resulting plist
accordingly.  For port updates, I use:

make PREFIX=3D/path/to/port/sandbox install

Then after make deinstall, I search for items which were not deleted,
then add them to the plist.
