No. That's what ports are. Packages are precompiled are just install
themselves on your system.

I don't understand this. The ports collection is just a bunch
of different software, with FreeBSD specific patches and a Makefile
added by the maintainer. You cd into the ports directory you want,
and type "make install." I strongly urge you to read the documentation
on the ports collection, as it's one of the most powerful parts of
the system.
