See, that's the thing. I used that same method of running Gnome before and it worked. But I'm really concerned by all the error messages I've seen, and I'm trying to keep the install stable so i don't have to reinstall. Last time i installed Gnome that's how it worked, but that doesn't seem to do it anymore. It worked once, but it hasn't since then. And i've heard other people say they've had stability problems. So i've been very tentative about just changing script files all over. I've just very nervous about breaking something.. plus, I'm watching my HD fill up, and i would hate to have to reinstall all this stuff... ;-) I was going to stick with just WindowMaker and Xterms, but I gave in to the temptation of E and Oct Gnome, which supposedly is a great combo. Now i'm thinking i'm going to regret it.
