Miata is a Pyxis single chip, AS1000A is NOT a Pyxis.  So I would not
call that the same chipset.  Look for example at the Pyxis DMA bugs etc.

Depends.  I would gamble a guess that the Tsunami is the leader now.

One could swap CPU daughter cards, and there were quite a few models
available at the time.
