I've just installed 3.1-RELEASE on a system that was running 2.2.8
(with KAME's IPSEC) quite happily. The machine is a Hitachi
Visionbook Pro 7560 (a laptop).
The kernel that comes off the 3.1 CDROM works fine, except it's
missing Advanced Power Management, and I prefer to suspend my computer
before putting it into the bag instead of halting it.
So I recompiled a kernel, copying GENERIC to APM and enabling APM but
making no other changes.
*That* kernel comes up and says:

This message about 16Mb is new, the off-the-CDROM kernel didn't print
it (and I never saw it while running 2.2.8). Since this is a PCI
device it ought not matter? (That's what the comment in the device
driver says, anyway.)

- What is the config file for the kernel that comes on the CDROM?
Isn't it GENERIC?
- Does anyone have a fix for this?
