Do regular expressions and associative arrays (awk) exist in > any other languages that can be translated and compiled? This question is more relevant to Perl than to FreeBSD. Yes & yes. An alpha-quality Perl compiler is available from anywhere that you can get perl itself (ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/perl/CPAN/, for example). For details, see ``perlfaq3 - Programming Tools: How can I compile my Perl program into byte-code or C?'' in the Perl FAQ. Perl's regular expression support is a superset of awk's and way faster. -mi > Thank you for any possible assistance! > Dr. Thomas E.
