The first ever alpha system that ran FreeBSD was a sketchy emulation of a TurboLaser system (SimOS). I wrote the zs driver to access the SimOS virtual serial console... The first physical hardware to run FreeBSD/alpha I'm not sure of. I seem to remember racing Drew Gallatin to get the thing up. It was probably either a DEC 433au or a no-name 164lx. Happy times...
