A full install runs around 700megs.  Once you have FreeBD installed,
though, you want to do things with it, and those things take space.  I
have a bunch of single use boxes running on 425meg-1gig drives.  I
wouldn't build a general use machine with anything less than 2 gigs as a
bare minimum.
