There appear to be some timing-related problems going down at the
moment; I've seen other people complaining about timing problems as
well.

This looks prettymuch identical to what I get on my (very similar)
220CDS:

mss_probe: no address supplied, try default 0x530
mss_detect - chip revision 0x0a
... try to identify the yamaha
mss_detect() - Detected CS4231
pcm0 at 0x530 irq 5 drq 1 flags 0xc100 on isa
mss_attach <mss>0 at 0x530 irq 5 dma 1:1 flags 0xc100
setting up yamaha registers
set yamaha master volume to max

Check the IRQ, and perhaps try changing it if that's possible, I use:

device pcm0 at isa? port ? tty irq 5 drq 1 flags 0

and on a December 1st kernel it plays fine (using mpg123).
