 Hi Nick,
 
 There seems to be more to this patch than just changing the makefile.
 Look at all the scripts there too (near the bottom of the monolithic
 patch!).  Could you take a look at this and submit a patch that includes all
 of thse?  You'll probably have to use the configure script that is already
 in files/ to sed /usr/local to ${PREFIX} in the scripts, though...
