> less is a port, for this exact reason. I presume you know what more has been removed from the tree in 5.X and replaced by less. Also csh has been removed and replaced with tcsh. Personally I think the fact that alot of people expect a colourising ls in the base system, and the relatively small nature of the change make it worth it. What we really need is either some sort of objective metric to evaluate these type of changes, or a simple system where people vote and see what the general feeling is. David.
