Anyone's guess, but the symptoms match.

Anyone with a Netfinity 3000 or 3500 with the onboard fxp is invited to 
try this; failing that I guess it's almost time to take another day 
down to San Mateo and go through their rack again.  I wouldn't mind a 
better chance of supporting the AMD PC-NET PCI parts though; they use 
them too...
