We have several BSD machines, and all have 10/100 or 10 mbs Digital PCI cards of one brand or another. We have also used various brands on machines built for clients, and all have worked great. Recently, Ingram was giving $100 back on 5 packs of genuine Digital 21140 PCI cards (the DE500), and since we had 5 machines to build, we ordered a box. Unfortunately, this card is always seen by BSD as a 100TX card, even though the card is plugged to a 10mbs hub. What's more, at power on, the card indicates that it is in 10mbs modes, yet BSD still wants to put it into 100mbs mode. I have seen this happen on several mother boards, and on several hubs, so it looks like BSD is just confused by the way this card is giving speed sense information. Is there anyway around this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Darren darren@wdc.net ------- End of Forwarded Message
