It starts for about 2.5 months ago -- same sympthoms: scanner software (pt0)
stops working in case of bad buffers.

I was trying to solve this problem, but failed. It seems libscsi is broken.

It is because everything using data transfer using libscsi do not work
on CURRENT (xvscan, hpscan). The scanner program (by Luigi ;-) that do not
use libscsi -- works fine for me.
