I've been using the following:

	ftp://ftp.jurai.net/users/winter/patches/geom-foot.patch

Set the sysctl 'kern.geom.allow_foot_shooting' to 1 and cross your
fingers.  Most of the time accessing an already open device is harmless
but I've encountered panics a few times.  YMMV
