here, i suspect, it causes:

kernel: Interrupt storm detected on "irq7: ehci0"; throttling interrupt
source

after disabling ehci and recompiling kernel there's no such a message,
nevertheless mouse is very jerky and unresponsive.

the following seems to be ok (to me), before there was a line for irq7
with rate of about 1000.

$ vmstat -i
interrupt                          total       rate
irq0: clk                        1319427        998
irq1: atkbd0                        1893          1
irq4: cbb1 uhci2                       1          0
irq5: cbb0 pcm0++++                14177         10
irq8: rtc                         168859        127
irq9: acpi0                         1582          1
irq12: psm0                          906          0
irq13: npx0                            1          0
irq14: ata0                        16526         12
Total                            1523372       1153
